Weather both good and bad for sales

Retailers around the Northwest are crying the blues about this Christmas shopping season – not because customers weren’t willing to buy, but because customers couldn’t get to their stores.

Early December sales were chugging right along, almost as usual, when the storms hit. Then the only stores who were making good sales were those who catered to snow lovers. A news article in The Spokesman Review reported that retailers selling snow-related goods are smiling all the way to the bank.

Just because most people couldn’t get out of their driveways, those determined to hit the ski slopes or zoom through the mountains on snowmobiles made it just fine. I guess it depends upon how much you want to go.

Stores that sell snow rakes, shovels, and snow blowers also did a brisk business.

It doesn’t look as if this weather will change soon, so if you have a storefront or an e-commerce site, be sure to promote everything related to snow!
