Why are they hiding?
Small businesses are often successful or not depending upon the people running them, and their personal reputations. If you live in a small town, you know how it is – some people have a reputation for honest dealing and providing good service. Others have a reputation that’s somewhat the opposite.
So why, then, do so many choose to hide? Are the majority of businesses run by people with bad reputations? I sure hope not!
Here’s what started this rant…
Today I happened across a site called “Buy Idaho” and decided to do a little exploring. I chose a few different kinds of businesses and just looked around, and in all the sites I visited, only one revealed the names of the people operating the business!
You might expect that with a mega-business. One that is run by a board of directors rather than one person. But I think small businesses are doing themselves a disservice when they try to be anonymous. It feels as if they’re trying to hide behind the business name, so they can “lure in” unsuspecting customers.
If you have a business and you’re proud of the goods and services you provide, put your name on it! Let your good reputation bring you more business, and build that good reputation when satisfied customers know it’s you behind that business!
