Do You Actually Work 40 Hours a Week?
Really? Are you sure?
I mean 40 hours at your “job.”
Most of us work far more than that, if we count all the family and household tasks we do, but how many actually work at their jobs 40 hours every week?
I just read an interesting article about a study done on Realtors. It showed that most work maybe 20 hours, but fool themselves into thinking they’re working full days. Some, of course, really do work 40 – or even 50 or 60 hours.
But most people are too easily distracted. They stop what they’re doing when a co-worker comes by to chat. They make personal phone calls, run out to pick up the dry cleaning, and even shop on line or play video games during those hours that they’re “working.” They’re doing something – but it isnt’ anything productive and the only way it relates to work is the location.
People in other fields do the same.
So what?
So you really do have some extra time, if you look for it. And that means you really do have time to plan your marketing instead of putting it off until the last minute.
That would result in two things:
- You’d have marketing materials that are far superior to the “last minute” variety
- You’d save money by avoiding impulse advertising
So tomorrow, while you’re at work, notice how much time you’re really working. Pay attention to how many hours get wasted by all those distractions that fill your day. Then work on ways to limit them – so you can work on your marketing.
