Plan Ahead to Market Around Special Days
Have you ever thought you should do special marketing for a holiday or other “special day,” but suddenly realized that the time to get it done has passed? As much as I nag at you, I even do that sometimes.
Like right now – we should ALL have some kind of Mother’s Day offering. Do we? I can’t believe that I didn’t notice it is this coming week-end until someone made a comment about it yesterday.
So I’m going to take my own advice, and schedule some promotions for the rest of the year. Those days are perfect opportunities to offer a special price or promote a specific product – your own or an affiliate product.
Because these things take time – either time to place an ad in a newspaper or time to write and upload web pages, we need to start about a month ahead. Longer for days like Christmas.
So here’s the schedule, based on what I see on my wall calendar:
- May 14 – plan for Flag Day, June 14
- May 21- plan for Father’s day, June 21
- June 4 – plan for 4th of July
- June 26 – plan for Parent’s day, July 26
- August 7 – plan for Labor Day, September 7
- August 22 – plan for the first day of Autumn, September 22
- September 12 – plan for Columbus Day, October 12
- September 30 – plan for Halloween, October 31
- October 1- plan for the return to standard time, November 1
- October 11 – plan for Veteran’s Day, November 11
- October 26 – plan for Thanksgiving, November 26
- November 25 – plan for Christmas
- December 1 – Plan for New Year’s Day
Now I may not do something about every one of those days, but the ones I choose are going in my planning calendar tonight. I know that unless I put it there in black and white, the days will slip by and suddenly it will be Halloween and I won’t have done one thing about it.
Why don’t you join me? We’ll both market smarter!
