Does Your Website Suffer From Content Rot?

That’s a new term I picked up last week in a fundraising magazine – and it sure fits me today. This has been such a busy last couple of weeks that I haven’t even gotten here to post. Sorry!

But back to content rot… That’s when your pages become stale. It’s when you don’t add anything new or make any changes. It’s even worse when you include a section on coming events on your home page – and the events have been over and forgotten for 3 or 4 months.

I’m sure you’ve seen sites like that, because I sure have.

I laughed when I read about it in the fundraising magazine. The writer said she was approached by a client who wanted new content, because one of her readers had reported that she now had the entire site memorized.

I’m not saying you need to re-write your home page every month, but it is a good idea to add some fresh articles and information now and then. And if you have a blog – it’s a really good idea to write in it.
