For Sale by Owner Maybe Not Such a Good Idea?
Almost any working real estate professional will tell you that offering your home “For Sale by Owner” is not a very good idea.
But partly as a result of a successful website called ForSaleByOwner.com, thousands of homeowners have given it a try.
They simply don’t realize the many steps involved in marketing, selling, and closing a home sale until after they’ve tried to do it.
Now, even one of the founders of ForSaleByOwner.com has learned the lesson. Recently, he spent 6 months trying to sell his Manhatten condo. Finally, he listed with a local broker who raised the price and got the condo SOLD.
If you’re an agent trying to show FSBO sellers why they need you, ask them if they saw that on the news. It did create quite a stir for a few days just because the commentators thought it was funny.
You can also “show, don’t tell” by sending them the FSBO letters I have available for you at Copy by Marte. Each one is designed to offer your assistance – not by doing the work for them as you would if the house were listed, but by informing them of the things they’ll need to do.
Read all about it and get a sample at my prospecting letter page.
