You may know that I wrote an e-book called “The Land Buyer’s Guidebook.” It’s been available for several years and I’ll have to admit that I don’t market it very heavily, so maybe you don’t know.

The e-book is all about how to choose the land where you’ll build your new home, beginning with how to choose a real estate agent to help you. It’s based on my experiences over 19 years in real estate, combined with my husband’s experiences as a home builder for just as many years.

The book goes into all the questions you need to ask and details you need to check before you hand over your money and take possession. It’s purpose is to keep you from paying a lot of money only to learn that you can’t build, or can’t build what or where you want.

After that book, I wrote “Home Building Simplified.” That one teaches how to choose a contractor who will let you remain happy rather than angry and frustrated while your dream home becomes a reality.

It too gives a list of questions. But this time many of them are questions you must ask yourself before you’re ready to choose a contractor and get moving.

But back to Friday evening.

Stan bought my e-books some time ago, so when he decided to do this series he contacted me. We actually did a call over a year ago, but something went wrong on the technology side and it didn’t record.  Then some other “that’s life” events got in Stan’s way and the project got put on hold.

I’m happy to say that he’s now ready to bring you a whole series of calls about the various aspects of home building.

This Friday night, the focus will be on finding the land and making darned sure that it is the right land before you sign final papers.

P.S. For some reason I can’t figure out, I cannot add myself as an author for my posts. This will probably come up saying that my son Chris wrote it.  Now what?

Several months ago I was approached by a company that does home design and asked if I’d participate in a series of tele-seminar calls. He wanted me to talk about the contents of my book, The Land Buyers Guidebook. That sounded like fun, so I said yes.

Well… for the past week I’ve been getting ready for the call we had tonight. It was fun to do, but getting word out to my lists, going over the questions he was going to ask, and capturing my butterflies took a lot of time!

In talking to Stan, the man who put it all together, I learned that the techie side of doing a teleseminar took a lot of time too. Unfortunately, he’s not much more skilled in techie stuff than I am, so… Lots of kinks.

All said, it was fun to do – and my butterflies all sat down for a nap as soon as we started talking.

So… of course I started thinking about different copywriting clients of mine who could use this method to reach out to their clients and prospects. Now I guess I need to learn how its done. So if you know a good (easy) service to use, please share the information.

The first call was all about dealing with design – and I learned some things I didn’t know, even after assisting with my husband’s custom home building business for over 20 years.
